Patricia Volk is a sculptor known for her striking, instantly recognisable forms. Working directly in clay using coiling and slab-building techniques, she creates one-off pieces that are fired and finished with acrylic paint in a bold, distinctive colour palette.
Her practice centres on the power of simple form. Clean lines and pared-back structures are brought to life through colour, often exploring subtle tensions between strength and fragility, stability and precariousness, stillness and movement, with each piece having an individual character.
Born in Belfast, Volk studied at Middlesex Polytechnic and Bath Spa University. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Sculptors and an Academician of the RWA. Her work has been exhibited widely across the UK and is held in notable private collections, including those of Anthony Horowitz, Lord Carrington and Mary Portas. She has also been commissioned to create an ident for ITV and was included in 50 Women Sculptors (Aurora Metro).
