About us

Nestled in the serene Herefordshire countryside, Canwood Gallery is a contemporary art gallery and sculpture park dedicated to providing an art oasis—a place where visitors can escape the everyday and immerse themselves in thought-provoking art. We showcase a diverse range of works from renowned artists such as Carl Andre, Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Angela Connor and Barbara Hepworth, while also supporting local artists, offering a unique opportunity to experience and purchase a diverse range art in a tranquil rural setting.

Our Story

In the 1970s, Herefordshire farmer Stephen Dale faced a life-threatening battle with leukaemia. During his treatment at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, he found solace and inspiration in the art at the Tate Gallery, particularly Carl Andre’s controversial brick installation. This profound experience ignited Stephen’s passion for art and his desire to give back. Upon retirement, he established Canwood Gallery to share the inspiring and healing qualities of art with others.
