Visitor Experience Volunteer (Welcoming Visitors)
Role Summary: Be the friendly face of Canwood Gallery, ensuring every guest feels welcome and has a memorable visit.
Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors and provide an introduction to the gallery and sculpture park.
- Answer questions about current exhibitions, artists, and the gallery’s history.
- Hand out maps and information leaflets, helping guests navigate the space.
- Assist with accessibility needs and ensure all visitors have a comfortable experience.
- Encourage visitors to sign up for the gallery’s newsletter or social media.
Ideal for: Friendly, enthusiastic individuals who enjoy interacting with the public and sharing their passion for art.
Exhibition & Curation Assistant (Curating Shows)
Role Summary: Support the gallery team in planning and setting up exhibitions, ensuring that artwork is beautifully and thoughtfully displayed.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation and arrangement of artwork in the gallery and outdoor spaces.
- Work with artists and curators to ensure displays align with the exhibition’s vision.
- Help create and update exhibition labels and interpretation materials.
- Conduct research on artists and artworks to contribute to visitor guides or social media content.
- Monitor exhibitions and report any maintenance needs (e.g., lighting, signage, artwork placement).
Ideal for: Art lovers, students, or anyone with an eye for detail and a keen interest in exhibition design.
Marketing & Social Media Volunteer (Marketing Tasks)
Role Summary: Help promote Canwood Gallery through engaging digital content and marketing initiatives to attract more visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Create and schedule posts for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok).
- Capture behind-the-scenes content, volunteer stories, and exhibition previews.
- Assist with writing blogs and updating the website with new events.
- Distribute posters and flyers in local communities and businesses.
- Engage with online followers by responding to comments and messages.
Ideal for: Creative individuals with a passion for digital marketing, photography or storytelling
Grounds & Sculpture Park Volunteer (Gardening & Outdoor Maintenance)
Role Summary: Help maintain Canwood’s beautiful outdoor spaces, ensuring that the sculpture park remains an inspiring and well-kept environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the care of gardens, pathways, and green spaces surrounding the gallery.
- Help maintain outdoor sculptures, ensuring they are clean and well presented.
- Water plants, trim hedges, and remove weeds to keep the area looking its best.
- Support eco-friendly initiatives, such as composting or wildlife-friendly planting.
- Collaborate with the team to enhance the visitor experience in the outdoor areas.
