The year long project ‘face to face’ in the form of an exhibition and publication was launched in April 2019.  After the initial exhibition in the space that the project took place, ‘face to face’ is now on tour.

The opportunity to show the works in a different space has brought an additional dimension to the project that will also be documented. Artistsworkhouse is very grateful for the support that General Office and Canwood Gallery have given to enable the continuation of the project.

A bit of background…..
ArtistsWorkhouse is an artist led studio space in Warwickshire, we have been running a networking/creative challenge project for the last 12 months, called ‘face to face’.
ArtistsWorkhouse formed a new network linking together contemporary artists in rural areas who benefited from a place to meet up for discussions, collaborations and projects and artists talks all initially based around the notion of meeting face to face (in real life !)
We are aware that there are many people in all fields of contemporary art and craft working in isolation in our rural ‘Heart of England’ region, where there are few, and increasingly fewer, facilities and venues nearby.
We hope that by joining together, new and creative ideas for exhibition and project work can be explored and we can all benefit from development, learning and perhaps most importantly, inspiration and challenge.
Over 60 artists engaged with the networking, talks and meetings.
Artists who took part in the creative challenge and have works exhibited in the show:
Carolyn Morris, Brian Cook, Deb Catesby, Dawn Harris, Chris Rider, Bryonie Williams, Helen Garbett, Bridget Rea, Cristina Celestini,Mathew Rea, Julie Swinsco, Jilly Oxlade-Arnott, Maggie Shuter, Kim Philpotts, Deb Eldred, Jane Spence, Shaun Hughes, Maria Boyle, Michala Gyetvai, Zarina Keyani, Mark Robins, Rachel Doughty, Tor Hildyard, Claire Watson, Cliff Hayward, Anna Mitchell, Ruth Judd, Cathy Jones, Karen Barlow and Sally White.

Whilst at Canwood Gallery you will also be able to meet artists who took part in the project as they are working on site, view and discuss additional materials and get a real insight into the process of the project.
