Peter Sellers often credited as the greatest comedian of all time, shot to fame in the Goon Show and was renowned for his comedy roles including the bumbling Chief Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther.
Not as widely known is that Peter Sellers was a keen photographer. With the help of his friend Camera Press founder Tom Blau he covered assignments for leading magazines including The Sunday Times, Sunday Telegraph and, perhaps most importantly, Vogue.
Canwood Gallery are displaying a collection of Peter Sellers photographs which formed part of the Peter Sellers behind the Camera exhibition in Knightsbridge, October 2015.
On view are images of Leigh Taylor-Young, Nanette Newman, HRH Princess Margaret and Peter’s images from Vogue 1973 of Liza Minnelli. The exhibition of stunning images reveals a huge talent for photography, and gives a wonderful insight into Peter’s life and the 1960s and 70s.
Some of the work will be available to purchase with proceeds going to towards helping raise money for the British Heart Foundation Nation of Lifesavers campaign to teach everyone life saving CPR skills, as both Peter and Peter’s son died tragically from a heart attack.
Canwood Gallery’s immense thanks goes to Sarah Sellers and Condé Nast Publications Ltd.
