Canwood Gallery – Carl Andre

Carl Andre is the inspiration behind Canwood Gallery’s opening and it therefore gives the gallery immense pleasure
to be exhibiting Isoclast 07.

Carl Andre an American minimalist artist is recognized for his ordered linear format and grid format sculptures.
His sculptures range from large public artworks to more intimate tile patterns arranged on the floor of an exhibition space.

Carl Andre’s Equivalent VIII better known as ‘the bricks’ caused massive public controversy during the 1970s
when purchased and put on display by the Tate. Due to the publicity it has attracted it is perhaps one of
the best known works of modern art in the Tate Collection.

Canwood Gallery (CG) is delighted to be launching for H.Art on Saturday 10th September 2016 with an exceptional mixture of internationally-renowned and local artists. Visitors will enjoy the opportunity to see the inspiring work of Carl Andre, and Angela Conner, and also exclusive photographs by the late, great Peter Sellers. Herefordshire’s most exciting talent will be on show including Walenty Pytel, Ed Elliot, Angela Holden, Rob Parkin, Walter Van Straaten, Simon Meiklejohn, Mark Houghton, Caro Burberry, Ben Esthop, Simon Probyn and Will Carr.  Together with sublime sculpture by Heather Jansch, Dominic Welch, Jonathan Loxley and paintings by Deborah Roberts.
